The WaPo reveals that they had an hour-long interview with Karl Rove earlier this month–at which he tried to spin his role in the US Attorney firings. Apparently, though, his spin was debunked by documents the WaPo received.

It was bound to happen. Matt Cooper, to whom Karl Rove leaked Valerie Wilson’s identity, is now reporting on Karl Rove again (at his new digs over at TPM). Better yet, Matt suggests Turdblossom may have miscalculated in his efforts to avoid testifying before the House Judiciary Committee.

Funny. Lamar Smith’s attempt to save Karl Rove’s ass was not an attempt to gather information for the Subcommittee. Rather, it appears to have been an attempt to be able to say to Attorney General Muaksey that Rove had been nice and compliant, just in time for Mukasey’s appearance before the Committee today.
