Jared Bernstein’s Glorious Diarrhea of Quashed Ideas

By: emptywheel Wednesday May 18, 2011 7:43 pm

I rarely post solely to recommend you follow a blog or twitter feed. But I am here. You see, Joe Biden’s economic advisor, Jared Bernstein, was recently liberated from the White House. And, as part of that liberation process, it seems, he got himself a blog and twitter feed. His inaugural post explained he could [...]

“Competitiveness” Is Peace

By: emptywheel Saturday January 22, 2011 8:10 am

I spent much of the day yesterday pointing out how stupid it was for Obama to put outsourcer, China nut, and TBTF bankster Jeff Immelt in charge of his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Meanwhile, Paul Krugman and Robert Reich have been focusing on Obama’s frame for the problem as “competitiveness.” In his piece, Krugman [...]

Unfortunately, Hoyt and the Times did not have the decency to apologize to Marcy Wheeler for previously inferring otherwise.

Marcy Wheeler TeeVee – Jonathan Gruber and the Cadillac Plan

By: bmaz Tuesday January 12, 2010 6:18 pm

There has been a fair amount of misinformation and disinformation about what has been said by Marcy Wheeler on this blog about Jonathan Gruber, including by Paul Krugman; there was also no foundation for it.

Krugman on the Cadillac-as-Chevy

By: emptywheel Sunday January 10, 2010 7:37 am

A number of people have pointed to this Krugman post, in which he seemingly agrees with the excise tax apologists. I think that states his position too strongly. What Krugman does is argue is that it makes sense to limit the tax exclusion for benefits. At the same time, he admits there are problems with [...]
