The FBI’s case against Bruce Ivins continues to crumble. In this installment, we learn there are ingredients in the samples used in the attacks that are not present in Ivin’s so-called “smoking gun” flask of anthrax.

At the still-unsolved anthrax attacks in 2001, people were raising concerns that we were breaking our treaty obligations not to do such research. But the attack led directly to a ten-fold expansion of our program.

Remember how one key to the FBI case against Bruce Ivins is their claim that only he had access to the flask that contained the anthrax strain used in the attack–and that they’re sure that there were no other flasks of the strain? Well, it turns out that Ivins’ lab, USAMRIID, shut down all research on Friday because they don’t have a good inventory of all their high-risk microbes.

The anthrax case continues to get stinkier and stinkier. In this installment, we learn that one of the FBI’s most dubious theories about the case came from the person who first pitched Ivins as a suspect.

Bruce Ivins, in his will, provides pretty clear proof the FBI’s case against him is full of holes.

It’s not just Pat Leahy who thinks the FBI story about anthrax is bogus–it’s pretty much everyone who has examined the case.

The FBI’s explanation for when and how Bruce Ivins drove to Princeton to mail the anthrax continues to “evolve”–and even still, they can’t come up with evidence that puts him in NJ.

The WaPo reveals that Bruce Ivins’ supposed window in which he could have mailed the anthrax from Princeton was just barely long enough for him to have done so. That revelation offers more questions than it answers.

Apparently, Bruce Ivins passed a lie detector test in 2001. I realize people can sometimes game those tests. But we’re talking about an emotional instable guy.
