The catfood commission (aka Obama’s deficit commission) is dead. Well, it must be, right? After all, that great figure of Beltway-corporatism-posing-as-moderation, Bob Corker, has decreed that we shall pass no legislation during a post election lame duck session. Corker called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.), the Democratic [...]

Bob Corker, After Begging for Auto BK, Wants Dealers Exempted |
| By: emptywheel Friday June 5, 2009 6:35 am |
Last November, Bob Corker seemed pretty fond of bankruptcies for America’s automakers. But now that those bankruptcies will affect small business owners, he’s having second thoughts.
No Wonder Bob Corker’s Trying to Play Politics with Spring Hill |
| By: emptywheel Tuesday April 14, 2009 11:23 am |
Bob Corker has been cynically lying. He has been claiming that if GM’s Spring Hill plant is closed in bankruptcy, it will be the result of politics. But Corker undoubtedly knows that, one of the few things used as collateral for any of GM’s secured debt, Spring Hill will be one of the first things to be liquidated.
Bob Corker: “Bust the UAW Already, Obama!!!” |

Bob Corker’s wailing up a storm because Obama hasn’t busted the UAW yet. And then he’s wailing up a storm to keep his UAW GM plant in TN.

Cerberus Still Seeking to Privatize Profit, Pass on Risk? |

Republican Bad Faith Negotiation, Again |
| By: emptywheel Friday December 19, 2008 1:31 pm |
Bob Corker and his Republican buddies are pissed that the President just implemented what amounts to their very own “compromise” auto relief bill. I guess we have yet further proof they were never negotiating in good faith.
Killing GM in the Guise of Saving It |
| By: emptywheel Tuesday December 16, 2008 5:56 am |
It appears that the White House plans to do the same thing the Senate Republicans intended to do last week: put their anti-union ideology over any good faith efforts to do what makes sense for GM.
Bob Corker’s Chumps in the Senate |
| By: emptywheel Monday December 15, 2008 9:56 am |
Say. Do you think Reid and Dodd noticed that Bob Corker–who they’re hailing as a gift to good faith negotiations–was not negotiating in good faith on Thursday night?
It’s Your Local Car Dealer’s Fault that a Congressional Auto Bill Failed |
| By: emptywheel Friday December 12, 2008 9:39 am |
The NYT carries Bob Corker’s water in claiming that the UAW didn’t make adequate concessions to get a bill passed last night. But that’s as absurd a claim as suggesting that it’s the fault of your local car dealer for not making concessions.
