I’m less sanguine than David Kay on the issue of whether or not some folks might be held accountable for the WMD hoax. The fact is that it was a hoax…and somebody along the way fomented that hoax as best they could. That would make that someone or someones responsible for the deaths and maiming of thousands of people, the wrecking of the infrastructure of Iraq, and the bankruptcy that the United States is headed towards fiscally, the moral bankruptcy of the United States being more readily apparent.

At a conference that takes place at Ohio University every year (the Baker Peace Conference) I was able to ask David Kay if he thought anyone would be held accountable for the false pre -war intelligence? His answer was far more lengthy but he basically said NO.

Kay seemed to be a stand up kind of guy. Seemed genuinely bothered by the WMD hoax.

The CIA was giving an FBI agent money to get the “right” answers on Hussein and WMDs?

Apparently they did at least make the in camera filings. The affidavits are just flat out sad.
