It is certainly not competitive rent. $600/month is a steal unless the Senators are bunking in the same rooms together. And from the look/sound of things, they just might be bunking “together.” I could show you apartment comparisons, but here’s a reasonable benchmark too. Thompson-Markward Hall, a “young woman’s Christian accommodation” is located adjacent to the Hart Senate Office Building. T-M-H charges residents $900 a month for a ’60’s dorm-like accommodation.

$600/month (utilities included I’d assume, are a steal). Residents of the Fellowship’s C Street house don’t have to worry about parking since, as Members of the House or Senate, they park for free in the nearby government garages.

Good to know there’s a Scarlet Letter Redux currently alive and flourishing on Capital Hill.

I just think that instead of a scarlet ‘A’ on chest of the ‘offending’ female, we ought to start requiring a very oversized, brilliantly red codpiece be worn by all offending male Capital Hill Republican moral scolds who commit adultery. To be worn at minimum the length of their remaining term of office.

(FWIW: Hate to be such a bore, but I do wonder… where do all these busy people find the time…?)

Trey Parker and Matt Stone had a White House-based sitcom called “That’s My Bush”, which got yanked after 9/11. I could imagine a sitcom where a bunch of republican and democratic congressmen live together in a swanky DC townhouse owned by a conservative political machine. I wonder if margarita night comes the day after prayer night, or the other way around.

Lindsey Graham seems a little light in his loafers to be backslapping adulterers…Hey Lindsey, what was the deal with the gay stud/hooker/reporter at the White House under Bush (literally), Jeff Gannon? Got any high fives and congratulations for your fellow closeted lawmakers and staff on that one?

And by the way, does DeMint, Stupak & Wamp sound like the name of a law firm in Dumb & Dumber, or what?

Oh certainly that, as far as I know he’s at least been quietly supportive on most equality issues. Nor am I particularly concerned about the purely marital/sexual aspects of Ensign’s problems, having taken a few different angles on some clouds at times. (What did she mean, both?)

But it’d be nice to see some simple courage on some other issues, too.

Well, it’s not like Kerry’s a crusader against gay marriage (or a hypocrite about divorce, having had one). So that doesn’t bug me so much.

I don’t have a problem supporting a friend through their own boneheaded mistakes. I do have a problem doing so selectively, only if they’re straight mistakes.
