I despise those who adopt the common wisdom re the “old” McCain, who was such a great guy, such an ethical and moral man, blah blah blah. If those who recently watched him renege on his opposition to torture didn’t figure out who McCain really was, then they should be made to write “opportunist” on the blackboard a hundred times. Or better, they could read you excellent piece and write an essay about the life and times of McCain, portrait of an American bad boy gone even badder.</p> Great article, bmaz.
