You've heard, no doubt, that McCain's campaign staffers have written a report exonerating Sarah Palin of abuse of power in the firing of Walt Monegan.
But did you know they rationalized their concern by describing Mike Wooten's--Sarah's former bro-in-law--"long history of unstable and erratic behavior"?
Although the report describes Wooten as a separate issue, the McCain campaign goes into great detail about the "rogue" trooper and his "long history of unstable and erratic behavior."
So in case you're wondering, the McCain camp agrees that the guy with the long history of unstable and erratic behavior is a menace to society.

Can Branchflower recommend indictment or can he only point out illegal activities?
Only point out illegal activities.
And one of the conservatives on the committee is already trying to say that they can only publish those aspects that relate directly to Monegan’s firing–meaning they wouldn’t be able to publish the workers comp tampering, which is a leading candidate for illegal activity. It’s not clear that’ll work, but there’s non-Monegan stuff they’re particularly worried about. (Though they ought to be worried about the personnel files, too.)
Is it illegal for Palin (via the campaign) to discuss state personnel matters with the public? DOJ took that position on the USAs. I
OT - Sarah Palin’s reading habits have been a topic for discussion. Kaylene Johnson’s biography of Sarah claims (excerpt from American Daughter website)

The McCain campaign releases a report that, like, totally clears the awesome Governor Palin of any wrongdoing, so don’t pay attention to the bipartisan, professional investigation that will likely conclude unethical wrongdoing. This is right out of OJ’s playbook - the McCain Report is a version of “If I Did It”, it’s because my jerk brother in law was so totally icky, and you’d do it too if you could!
Thanks ew.

OT, but Atrios links to a report from Yglesias commenting on the possibility of Canada annexing Iceland as a result of its looming insolvency. I’m sure that the Icelanders would treat us Canucks as liberators, but it seems that we will have to outbid the Russians, who are apparently taking a predatory lender approach and trying to take over a NATO ally through the equivalent of a foreclosure on a subprime mortgage. How could Governor Palin have not seen Putin rearing his ugly head in the North Atlantic?
But … but … Iceland is where I was going to seek asylum if Steve gets a majority.
LOL! I think “Steve” lost his bet that there was no way the Bush Administration would let the economy crash before the American election so that he could win a snap election.
What time is it in Juneau?
Alaska Time
And the McCain camp is saying Mike Wooten is ‘erratic’? I think they need to take a look closer to home:

According to Governor Palin, I believe she thinks it is the End Times.
The real threat to Iceland is Britain.
I suspect Obama will announce a National Service Work Program - similar to FDR’s CCC, WPA, etc - on the 29th.
The next crisis after the Financial Meltdown is Jobs.
Safety-Netting Americans with Paying Service Jobs so they can Cover the Basics is the Best Curb to Crime and Violence, and A Strategy that All Sensible and Rational People can Support.
I was wondering if there were going to be some surprise endorsements then, but yours is a good thought.
Loo Hoo - Do you remember the way Jim Webb finished his campaign in Virginia in ‘06?
He rallied a huge crowd with a stage full of Strong Democrats, each taking the mic in turn to deliver ringing endorsements of Webb and the Democratic Party.
So, maybe something combining Jobs and Endorsements…allthough I have to say the 29th seems like the far distant future right now, and the Jobs issue - as a response to rising populist sentiment towards Violence - might not be able to wait…imho, Security calms Fear.
The Extremists would prefer US to believe that We have no other option than to Drive the Country Off the Cliff - So, We offer up a Job to Cover the Basics - and I bet the Bus will be a Lot Lighter by the time McCain tries to Fly It.
29th does feel like a long ‘ol way off…
(It will not come as a huge surprise to longtime readers of this space that) I have a very bad feeling about all of this. In what way does the combination of large numbers of scapegoated disadvantaged displaced minority people plus launch of large-scale public works employment programs plus a standing inventory of regional detention centers all empty and at the ready, not basically equal concentration camps in America?
