Well, let’s see, what with the wholesaling and greasing of Arizona land deals to Lindner described above, and this one to Don Diamond, and this one to Steven Betts and Suncor, not to mention that McCain has been absent for over 80% of the time and votes this year for his day job in the Senate that we pay him for (along with his military pension the only money he doesn’t suck off of his SugarMomma wife), you may wonder what exactly John McCain does for the citizens of Arizona. The answer is the same as it has always been. Absolutely nothing. Unless, of course, it benefits John McCain.

The Post article on U.S. trained Mexican police torture I linked to last thread is an interesting parallel because it involves U.S. money for “anti-drug” efforts.

In recent months, human rights concerns shaped negotiations between U.S. and Mexican lawmakers over a $400 million U.S. aid package designed to help Mexico fight drug cartels.

Mexican officials persuaded the U.S. Congress to remove some human rights conditions, but a provision prohibiting Mexico from using testimony derived from tortured witnesses remained in the final bill.

“The only thing that I thought when I saw those videos was ‘Thank God the U.S. Congress attached some human rights conditions,’ ” said José Miguel Vivanco, Americas director for New York-based Human Rights Watch.

Thank God! What are the conditions? The vomit has to be fresh?

I think it is that Lindner expects more from McCain than he does from the death squads — that is why he is willing to give McSame the greater bribe!

Here is the wiki page on what are apparently called the “parapolitics” prosecutions for involvement with AUC down there.

This was in U.S. papers in April when Uribe’s cousin fled the country to avoid prosecution, not to mention in the strange salience of the Colombia free trade deal in the primary season.
